On December 18, 2025 President Donald J. Trump signed the National Defense Authorization Act into law, which passed the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives on a bi-partisan basis by a wide margin. The legislation provided significant funding to the Pentagon and reformed the way it “does business.” Here are some of the highlights:

• $901 billion to the Department of Defense & national security programs;
• 3.8% to 4% salary increase for military personnel;
• increases international aid and operations to improve strategic global alliances;
• eliminates certain Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion aspects of the military;
• modernizes U.S. forces with new equipment and technology;
• emphasizes cybersecurity protocols and protection of defense-critical infrastructure.

What was overlooked by many is Sec. 6805, which requires voting systems be tested to ensure they are impenetrable to cyber attacks/hacking as a condition to certification for their use in elections.

This is a Christmas gift for many who have questioned the integrity of all election systems: ES&S, Dominion, Hart, etc. The 2026 election process may look very different if the systems/machines fail that test.
