Have you noticed the increase in gas prices recently? The strategic petroleum reserve is being steadily drained over the last several months in an effort to keep fuel costs lower. In fact, the administration just announced that 15 million additional barrels of oil will be sold from our strategic petroleum reserve bringing it to the lowest level since 1984. We were at $5.00/gallon for gas and it fell to $3.75 for a short period. Now, prices are climbing again, and the Biden Administration sees that as a problem before these critical elections. Rising prices are such a problem that the President “begged” the Saudis not to cut oil production next month to “avoid bad news.” The Saudis saw right through this blatant attempt to manipulate public opinion prior to an election and declined to delay production cuts, hence our climbing gas and home heating oil prices.

Independence to Dependence: Living with Energy Policy Decisions
In 2018 the United States was a net exporter of petroleum, Pennsylvania natural gas production reached new highs, fuel costs and inflation were low, and life was good. Four years later due to policy decisions at the federal and state levels, President Biden is “begging” foreign leaders for oil, Pennsylvania can’t move its natural gas to consumers, and people will struggle to heat their homes this winter.
Sometimes we feel the impact of decisions very quickly, as when businesses were shut down to protect everyone from a virus that killed no more people than an average flu season but had the effect of actually destroying small businesses. However, often it takes time for policy decisions at the state and federal level to be felt in our communities and homes. Make no mistake, the federal energy policies begun almost two years ago and PA greenhouse gas initiatives stemming from 2019 are the cause of our energy woes today.
Where Are Those Billboards?
Our mobile billboards are on the roads, at events, and in shopping centers throughout Chester and Delaware Counties. If you see it, be sure to take a picture and send it to us!
As G. K. Chesterton wrote, “It isn’t that they can’t see the solution. It is that they can’t see the problem.”
We are trying to make sure that they see and understand the problems.
