As part of Keystone Fair Business Partners’ mission to foster good governance and educate the public on issues, we are embarking on a critical new project.
Data analysts recently let us know that Chester County’s voter rolls still contain over 12,000 people who have moved out of Pennsylvania over the course of several years. Delaware County has over 10,000. Most, if not all, of the former residents have no idea that they are still registered in Pennsylvania despite registering to vote in their new states. Pennsylvania and its counties can only initiate the removal of people from the voting rolls if the voter dies or after several years of voting inactivity. However, citizens can request to have their voter registrations cancelled by completing a form and mailing it to the county election office. At that point, the counties must comply.
The project involves writing informational letters, providing Registration Cancelation forms, and stamped addressed envelopes to all those citizens who moved out of Pennsylvania but remain on the voter rolls of Chester and Delaware Counties. A trial run of this effort was completed in another county and the registration cancellation return rate was 26%. At that rate, this project could result in over 5,000 ineligible voters being removed from the voting rolls of two critical counties prior to the upcoming election. Additionally, it decreases the pool from which any potential fraudulent ballots can be drawn.
For this initiative to be successful we need funding for the supplies and postage, but we also need volunteers to sign the letters and hand-address the outer envelopes.
Please consider sponsoring this very important and time-sensitive initiative by becoming a member of Keystone Fair Business Partners today! If you or someone you know would like to volunteer for the letter writing aspect of the campaign, please let us know.
