School Districts in Disarray

This year, School Board Directors throughout the Commonwealth will be seeking support as they run to represent you in these elected offices. The decisions made by some of these same directors have caused harm to our children, from learning loss because of school closures during COVID-19 to humiliation in bathrooms & locker rooms resulting from Diversity Equity and Inclusion policies.

Our partners at Broad + Liberty took a closer look at test scores in comparison to teacher salaries for last year. Based on the chart above, it doesn’t look like throwing more money school districts is doing anything to improve abysmal educational proficiency rates. The $16.8 billion Pennsylvania spent on public schools last year yielded the following proficiency results in 2024:

Reading and Writing: 53%
Math: 40%

Perhaps the solution to improving the education of our next generation is for school district directors to spend more time focusing on teaching critical skills rather than social justice. Know who your school directors are. Find out if they really represent your ideas and values. Are they working to fix educational problems or are they part of the problem? Maybe it’s time for some of them to be replaced!

Do you want to be a part of the solution to improving the literacy and overall education of our children? The Leadership Institute is hosting the Learn Right, Lead Right Summit to equip you with strategies and solutions to save American schools.

Bottom line…

As the Constitutional Convention ended in 1787, Benjamin Franklin was asked if the delegates produced a monarchy or a republic. Franklin replied, “a republic, if you can keep it.”
